Take a quick inventory
Look in the fridge, freezer, and pantry before choosing meals. Write down ingredients you want to use soon. Check package storage directions and use your usual food-safety guidance when deciding what to keep.
Plan around your actual week
Choose simple meals for busy evenings and leave room for leftovers. You do not need seven different recipes. A few familiar meals can make the plan easier to follow.
Build the list from the plan
For each meal, add only the ingredients you still need. Group the list by the areas you visit in your store, and add household basics after checking your supplies.
Keep the plan visible
Put the meal plan where you will see it before the evening rush. Swap days when your schedule changes. The plan is there to help, not to create another rule.
